"That old man... My uncle is someone I truly cannot stand. For once in his life, I wish he'd actually consider my feelings. But still, I don't mind, since that shows he actually care. Is there something you need? If it's about Prime Minister Ametsuchi, then you should tell him directly.""My name is Mayumi Date. My mother took my father's name, and they decided to move far away from my grandfather's ambition... The current, young Prime Minister. It's okay, though. I chose this life, and through trial and struggle, awakened to my own true self. Even though in my opinion, I've still learned nothing about myself.""The world is indeed falling apart. More and more people are becoming attached to the idea of technology. It's a poison that not even we as a generation can escape. Can it be fixed tomorrow? No. That requires a collective effort. However, what Atsuyoshi plans to do will accelerate that process further. Those who try to avoid destiny, will always run straight into it.""I care about the results. Whether the results are borne from idealism or straight power, I do not care. I want to see the potential in someone grow to its extent. If it's worth striking down in the name of justice... Then Manat's blade will lead them to the Heaven they pray to."

XX. Judgement Arcana.

The Judgement Arcana, in tarot, is associated with realizing one's calling, gaining a deep understanding of life and a feeling of acceptance and absolution.
Devil Summoning.
People with spiritual powers are able to make contracts with Demons. Summoners are able to use these powers to fight alongside them, or some use this power to wield themselves through Black Sabbath. This ability has allowed them to frequently change history regardless of what side they’re on. There are different types of Summoners, including those who fight under a common cause (Yatagarasu for example), those who act alone to pursue their own desires (Freelance Summoners), and those who seek (and often abuse, like the Phantom Society) power for its own sake. The Preservers aside from an explicit few are able to use Demons to assist them in combat, generally in spaces where they need to hide their usage of their Personas. As such, they are capable of summoning Demons and their Akasha simultaneously if needed.
I. COMP: Unnamed Tablet

A government facilitated tablet given to Mayumi for work purposes. It functions differently from her casual tablet, which is used for drawing and academic purposes. Functioning both as a COMP and a conduit for her Persona powers, Mayumi can attack by drawing upon the tablet and lining it up with enemies in order to cut them. Like an artist that draws on a canvas, Mayumi’s canvas is the face of reality, and as such, the world can be cut using simple or complex techniques. Using her Persona to draw more elaborate drawings aside from lines or circles allows her to inflict greater damage on the world, even negating defenses. However, due to the uniqueness of this COMP, she has no way to defend herself outside of simply guarding.
II. Ten Thousand Gods
A simple handgun enforced with the awakening of her power. In tandem with her tablet, Mayumi wields the blade and gun to hit opponents twice. Mayumi is able to imbue the power of the elements she wields through Ten Thousand Gods, in addition to summoning a legion of the exact same handgun to use against opponents.
III. Black Sabbath

COMP skills used by both Devil Summoners and Akashics made from the essence of Demons. The White Sabbath was a technique created by Atsuyoshi Fumetsugawa specifically for the Four Symbols and Huanglong, although the process can easily be replicated for other Demons. By transferring the abilities of the Demon into a weapon of choice, Black Sabbath enables COMPs to replicate a Demon’s powers without directly summoning them.
IV. Shivashakti
Also known as Transcendentalism or Shakti, for short. When an Akashic reaches a form of elation that synchronizes with both heart and soul, body and emotions, the idea of “Shivashakti”, can be realized. In most cases however, most Akashic users can feel the advent of this elation such as when going through intense combat. Other times, it can simply come naturally, and Akashics that are able to grasp their synchronization fully, are able to use it at will without restriction. Although, for all known users of Shakti, none have been able to reach this state. For everyone except Reimi Fukuchi, the form of Shakti comes in the form of their original Akasha, while she is able to use a combination of several Demons and her Akasha to create unique spells.
V. Magatama

Magatama are mystical beads suffused with elemental magic and represent their respective element through distinct colors. The wielder harnesses their potency by assimilating it within their soul and unleashes the spell it embodies. Remarkably, since the magical power of the Magatama has already been actualized, no tithe is demanded from the user's soul to manifest the spells held inside. Mayumi carries Ice, Bless and Darkness Magatamas alongside her grenades at all times.
VI. Willpower
Mankind carries within them boundless potential. By willpower alone, those who have tapped into their metaphysical powers may evolve in strength when facing death or even if a foe is too great for them in strength. No conventional limit exists to this evolution, as even ontological gaps in power can be crossed by a mere increase in resolve. Be it a day or amid battle, a soul can flourish at a moment’s notice. Moreover, amplified strength is not the sole benefit of a human’s determined soul. Two other known products of the human soul are the capability to regenerate and adapt to supernatural abilities. Should the soul in question carry enough resolve, healing wounds—no matter how abstract—can be instantly regenerated in a plume of azure flame.
"ERUDITION."
25XX.
A young woman works at a table in her university’s local cafeteria. She’s alone and diligently focused, reading numerous types of variables and formulas, and documenting them down in a much smaller notebook. She’s always been gifted to analyze and understand complex formulas, but those were relatively easy for her.Concepts were black and white. Rigid and unbreakable. Once they were discovered, they were continually worked away at until humanity got a proper definition of them. No one really tries to go against the known, because the mass majority of people will often disagree and turn against you. But the moment that you’re able to change the tide, uncover more facts and either change human perception or even reinvent it, you’re cemented as a hero for all of history.Scientists, mathematicians... Religious leaders, philosophers and authors. People who dedicated their lives to explaining “Why does X do Y” lived and died according to their beliefs, and presumably, many of them were so confident going into the grave for their beliefs. They died because their myopic view of life constrained them to a black and white view.Unfortunately, she was no different. Even as she typed away at a computer to solve numerous problems for her boatload of work, the woman named Mayumi Date saw it as trivial and frivolous.‘There’s nothing that can’t be solved’, ‘These problems are extremely easy’, and of course the obvious one: ‘This is extremely boring. Why am I doing this?’Mayumi Date felt all three in her mind at this very moment. She was hyper focused on learning, and at some points of her development, outpaced several adults in terms of knowledge. It felt so monotonous, boring. When people asked her how she knew so much, it was just a shrug with an answer of ‘I simply wish to know.’ She was a quiet person, even from birth. Her parents even noted that she wasn’t a crier when she was younger. All she really did was watch, observe and document. Her black and white outlook on life split things right down the middle to her. It’s why she didn’t have friends, it's why boys rarely spoke to her, even if she was attractive (even if attraction to her was a concept lost upon her mind). It’s why she can truly never understand her own heart, and it’s why she can never connect with the idea such as emotion.Emotions aren’t black or white. They’re multifaceted, a concept that cannot be considered binary. People get angry for example, but that anger stems from numerous sources. Perhaps it's from debt. Perhaps it’s from a fight. Or perhaps it's from a loss in their family. Or maybe someone is simply angry because it was genetically baked into their person. Because of that, Mayumi’s personality cannot grasp or understand the idea of “emotions”.‘What are emotions? Why do they exist? Why do I have to use them? Is empathy really required for my path in life? Why does my grandfather continually push for me to use them?’For Mayumi, as she continually typed away on her research for university, she truly did wonder about these things. But according to her grandfather, she would find the answer on her own. After all, as he always said, it's not about the destination, but the journey.Mayumi Date was born to a pair of celebrities. Her mother was an actor, and her father was an owner of multiple businesses. Due to her mother separating herself from the rest of Mayumi’s close family, she had never known her grandfather at birth, but often heard stories of him. Her father was unaware of his exploits aside from his despondent past, and her mother vehemently disliked him for always pursuing a worthless goal. Despite these tales, they never elaborated on these tales aside from being vague.Mayumi could not fathom why. Why did they seek to hide this knowledge from her? Why did they dislike that part of their family so much? She was always known as a quiet child. Always watching and staring, someone who looked like they were reading the room more often than they spoke about it. She was heavily indulgent in books far beyond her age and drawing, something that early on that would set her apart from most children. She observed and watched other children, and began to draw her feelings. Because she did not communicate and talk with other children, her feelings were a mystery to those around her. Whenever she replied with “I’m fine, I’m just watching”, her parents were always concerned. But Mayumi Date was someone who was an analyst, even at an early age. Her parents wanted her to excel in school, that’s why she went to one of the best in the country. She was privately taught by tutors at a young age. Even as a child, she was effectively a celebrity. Why did they care so much about her feelings? She never thought about expressing them except from her passion of reading and drawing, as they weren’t needed to be used in the art of research.Mayumi, when reflecting back on her childhood, saw that she lived a mundane life. People weren’t mundane, but she saw herself as mundane. Unable to touch or understand others, or simply overthinking and analyzing them. Whether it be adults or children, she always watched and tried to analyze them without making a meaningful connection. Kids her age never approached her because she would always ignore them or worse, condemn them for simply not being a child. Adults didn’t want to deal with her because her words and motivations were alway seen as stubborn. Not even her parents understood her. Even when they gave her gifts and a spot in the limelight. Even when her drawing talents and intellect were used for media purposes, Mayumi saw little interest in the joys and explorations in life. She found them banal and fruitless, without purpose. If her parents saw her as something to be exploited, why should she care about the things they put her through? Was she a circus animal, or was she their daughter? For that point in time, at age six, she couldn’t tell the difference.A year later however, she was able to find someone who truly understood her.The man who was known as her grandfather appeared at their doorstep when she was seven. Naturally, her parents were opposed to him suddenly “appearing”. They did not like him for more than just a handful of petty reasons, and further did not wish to get involved with him. Even moreso, he looked younger than both her mother and father, and they were quite youthful to begin with. But Mayumi felt a sense of kinship with him, the moment he stepped in. He was different from the others who surrounded her. A shining light, or perhaps a guiding figure that she was in need of following. The radiating charisma that emitted from him was something that blinded her vision completely. The man, whose name was Masaharu Ameno, had come back from his intense training in a place beyond human sight. He had attained the idea of immortality and transcended, exceeding the potential as a mortal man and becoming closer to a perfect aspect of one. It was why he still looked relatively youthful, a man who hadn’t given up on life. Though he did not ask for a second chance towards Mayumi’s family, he did ask to know her more. It was still tradition for her to see if she wished to walk the path of Devil Summoning or not.Regardless of her family’s wishes, she was still listed as his heir to the title of Kuzunoha upon his passing. That was the undeniable truth. For all that knew her however, they expected her to turn down the offering that her mysterious relative had placed before her. Why would she ever walk away from the path of normalcy? Mayumi had everything she wanted, and was above average in terms of intelligence, academics and even wealth wise.Mayumi agreed, without a second thought. She wished to leave her above average life. She would rather live a more mundane life to understand the people around her, possibly even to walk a path that these “above average” people didn’t even fathom. Though her parents were against it, they respected the child’s wishes. If they had known her better through their familial connection, would she have still left?Mayumi didn’t think so. In fact, she saw her parents as the antithesis of progression. To shower her with lavishness and raise her higher without truly loving or understanding her was something that she could truly never comprehend. While she was always a fan of the rewards given to her, what were they truly? Were they signs of affection, or bribery to keep a child happy and sheltered? If they kept her so sheltered, why did they think she would truly have any affection towards her parents?... That part wasn’t true. She definitely still loved her parents. But the love was superficial. Their family was superficial and fake. Built upon media and stardom, she could not handle the life she was given, even at a young age.Perhaps the first time she truly felt love and affection, was when her grandfather appeared before her and was able to touch her with a warm and guiding hand. Maybe it was that which dragged her out of her hiding shell of an individual. For the first time, she felt that at a young age, she couldn’t just logically deduce him.He was special, to put it blankly. Someone who avoided the regression of society. From then on, Mayumi would live with her grandfather. Her parents still let her have access to the family wealth, and still gave her many gifts over the years, but Mayumi was more focused on expressing herself and regaining a sense of identity. Her grandfather (who changed his name to Masahiko Ametsuchi) trained her not just in terms of battle skills, but also in terms of emotional, mental and spiritual well being. In order to find herself, and in order to truly understand herself, she had to face the reality that the person that shied away from understanding humans on a complex level more than anyone else was herself.Mayumi Date needed to understand the self that lies beyond the physical body.Though she wouldn’t call it mundane in the slightest, she awakened to her Persona when she trained underneath her grandfather. Struggle and repetition. Being his student also meant understanding what his powers were. The power to awaken and weaponize the true self, being able to use it for a better future. She struggled with it greatly at first, to control a side of her that she long since suppressed. To learn and understand, to understand what it meant to be “human”. To understand what it meant to be “free”, in a sense... Mayumi Date did not understand “freedom”, and she wished to understand humanity to that extent. Instead, she felt like she was constantly judging and demeaning others. A judge who condemned all around her, who pushed away the empathetic and doubled down on being as apathetic as possible.Mayumi struggled to come to terms with how she truly felt. There was a part of her that accepted the task to be more open towards all around her, but there was also the feeling of... attachment. The fear of truly knowing what lay ahead upon an unknown path. Her grandfather often spoke about how the process to awaken the power of Persona (or the Akasha, as modern times would refer to it as). Though she took notes, he would always express that the power itself was nothing she could “memorize” or perhaps “study”. It was a feeling that would flow through naturally. But Mayumi, expectantly, did not see it as such. Even as she tried interacting and talking with others, even from high school to her present adult life, it's always in a more... methodical way. Talking to adults, her peers... Even as she typed away on the keyboard thinking about her life, Mayumi Date reminisced about why SHE was the one who obtained these magical powers. At first, she was going to be a Devil Summoner. She trained and worked hard to be a Devil Summoner because that was the bare minimum that she felt like she could assist with when it came to her Grandfather and his work. But then she awakened to the power of her Akasha. A completely different set of rules that completely changed her goals when it came to interacting with Devil Summoners. That was fine. After all, she could still classify as one to hide her own identity as Akashic. But now as she walked the path for university, Mayumi Date switched to being committed to following a proper job. Even as she split from her parents, she still wanted to represent the Date household. As she became older and more mature, the ideology of “assisting with my Grandfather” and “Inheriting his title” became two separate things. She didn’t want to inherit his title, or rather, she wasn’t sure if she wanted to yet. She was not ready to commit to what was essentially a lifelong role of assisting with the underground world she was barely familiar with. The people on the surface needed their own form of protectors. Lei Gong was part of the government for example. Though he fought for peace as a Akashic and Devil Summoner, he was also experienced in the Diet Building’s political work, and rose to be her grandfather’s second hand. But Lei Gong was also someone who didn’t grow up being a Devil Summoner; he simply had the potential. She didn’t intend to follow Lei Gong’s footsteps, but she ended up being an intern for the Diet Building by simply shadowing and following him day to day. She wouldn’t have gotten the position if it weren’t for the fact A. Her Grandfather (Who was called “Uncle” in the public eye) was the Prime Minister and Yatagarasu is close to the government and B. The fact that being the only public family relative of the Prime Minister allowed you to have special permissions.Permissions that, above all else, felt like she was trapped in the same cage she wanted to escape before. The cage of being showered with gifts, the cage of having burdens placed upon her. Pursuing her own personal path, that of being a lawyer, was a solace that allowed her to truly feel “alive” in a sense. That feeling of going down the path of adjudicating others was something that she felt comfortable with. But with that adjudication, came with understanding people on a more moral scale. Even if she was to prosecute people indiscriminately, there was a chance that she would be swayed with emotions. There was a definite chance that she would be influenced if she was to fully give into empathy. Where was the balance between feeling empathetic, and walking away from giving into said empathy? Was there ever a chance she could find a mix between both? If her Grandfather wanted to succeed her, didn’t he want someone that would ultimately be as kind, strong, benevolent and utterly virtuous as he was?“I don’t understand him.” The friendless, distant and cold Mayumi Date muttered to herself, continuing to type away while solving problems for her classes. They weren’t going to disappear no matter how much she wondered about the future. She wasn’t concerned about her future, she would excel no matter what. Mayumi feared opening up to others. She feared understanding people would make her less rigid. But it was that robotic, blunt personality that made her feel comfortable. A duality in which one or the other had to give way.An adjudicator, someone who lives and dies by the law, shouldn’t be swayed no matter what. But does that make them a tyrant, a remorseless judge? What does it mean to have someone’s life in their hands?Mayumi Date contemplated the meaning of this throughout her days, never truly finding an answer. The journey that she had to embark upon would probably grant her an answer. But with them finding the Chosen Hero, the one who is ultimately going to influence the world around them the most... Perhaps they would grant her the answer.Maybe. She didn’t believe in fantastical answers, hypocritical as it is. Her path is an obscure one.
